SWISS delay compensation: how to claim yourself

If your SWISS flight arrived 3 hours or more late, was cancelled at short notice, or you were denied boarding, you may be entitled to compensation. You don’t need a claim company: you can claim it yourself and keep the full amount.

Which SWISS flights are covered?

SWISS is based in Switzerland. All its flights leaving the EU, Iceland, Norway or Switzerland are covered by EU261, and so are its flights into them from anywhere.

Its flights from the UK are covered by UK261.

Swiss carrier: EU261 applies via the EU–Switzerland air transport agreement. Not an 'EU carrier' for UK261 inbound.

How much you may be owed

  • Up to 1,500 km€250 / £220
  • 1,500 – 3,500 km€400 / £350
  • Over 3,500 km€600 / £520

Per passenger, under EU261 / UK261.

How to claim from SWISS

  1. Check your flight for free to see if you may be entitled and how much.
  2. Get your claim pack: a letter to SWISS citing the regulation, and instructions for sending it.
  3. Send it to SWISS and give them 14 days to reply.
  4. If they refuse or don’t reply, use the reply templates or escalate to the enforcement body.

A claim company would typically keep up to €210 of a €600 payout. With a €19 claim pack, you keep €581.
